Candle Care
Below are a few tips to ensure you get the best out of your candle
Appearance
All our candles are hand poured and made using 100% natural soy wax, because of this the reset of your candle may not be completely smooth. This is completely normal and will not affect the performance of your candle. Soy candles are also prone to having defects such as frosting and cracking of the wax, again unfortunately this is unavoidable and will not affect the performance of your candle.
Avoid leaving your candle in direct sunlight as it may turn the wax a yellow colour. It will not affect the candle in any way, it just loses its creamy white colour.
Candle memory
When lighting your candle for the first time allow the wax to melt and reach the edge of your vessel (approx. 3-4 hours). This will ensure a clean burn and avoid tunneling.
Trimming your wick
We recommend you trim your wick prior to each burn. Keep the wick trimmed to approximately 5-6mm for cotton wicks and 4mm for wood wicks
If you do not trim the wick regularly or your candle is left to burn too long, you may get a mushroom of carbon on the end of the wick. This may cause some soot to collect on the inside of the vessel. If your flame is too big, trim your wick.
Leave approximately 1-2cm of wax at the bottom of the candle. This will ensure the glassware does not get too hot.
